About Shatt al-Arab University
The university began its academic journey with the establishment of "Shatt al-Arab University College" in Basra Governorate on October 5, 1993, pursuant to Order No. (MF/568). Upon its founding, the college comprised only four departments. The college is recognized by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research. It is one of the oldest private colleges in Basra Governorate and the fifth in Iraq.
The college aims to raise the scientific and cultural level in Iraq in general, and in Basra in particular, by providing the labor market in both the public and private sectors with distinguished scientific competencies and expertise from its graduates.
Since its founding, Shatt al-Arab College has undergone several stages of development until it was transformed into "Shatt al-Arab University" pursuant to Ministerial Order No. (T H AK/16006) dated July 28, 2024, marking the beginning of a new phase of progress on the scientific and urban levels.
The university currently comprises six colleges, encompassing thirteen academic departments, and is working to establish new departments in the coming years to keep pace with labor market demands and modern academic developments.

Vision
Shatt al-Arab University College seeks to raise the academic and cultural level of the country in general, and the city of Basra in particular, by preparing cadres and generations capable of assuming national responsibility. This is achieved by adopting the latest administrative, accounting, legal, and linguistic methods, in addition to expertise in the field of computers.
Mission
In light of the college's vision to integrate quality and accreditation standards into the fabric of the college's educational system, the college's mission can be summarized as follows:
To consolidate the college's role in promoting theoretical and applied knowledge in accordance with the ethical, social, and cultural standards of society.
To provide students with the foundations of modern knowledge, advanced scientific research methods, and high values, and to develop students' personalities, enabling them to innovate, challenge, lead, learn independently, work collaboratively, and compete locally, regionally, and globally.
To develop and update curricula in light of contemporary trends and subject them to periodic evaluation in accordance with advanced standards, taking into account local circumstances.
To actively participate in developing and enhancing the community's knowledge base, contributing to it, and undertaking organized scientific research through planned employment and continuous capacity development, preparing specialized cadres to practice various professions in society and prepare for future specializations.
