As a distinguished academic institution, Shatt Al-Arab University, during its rather long history, graduated thousands of students of various specialties who have been serving their country. Such an achievement has been the result of the concerted efforts made by faculty members, university personnel and students. The University, which has been established in 1993 with five departments, includes now six colleges, namely Engineering, Technical Engineering, Law, Science, Administration and Economics and Arts. The number of departments amount right now to thirteen. The University plans to have more departments in line with the labor market, taking into account serving our country and Basra in particular. The noticeable development witnessed in the University, especially in completing its infrastructure, is mainly attributed to the Investment Contract of the University new campus, and the serious follow-up. The aim is to cope with the requisites of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research. Besides, our University is committed to attain high academic quality: distinction in teaching, research, strong ties with the community, and attaining ever advanced ranks in the national and international academic standards and classifications. All University personnel (faculty staff, administrative cadres, and students) are requested to spare no effort to work out more success in their respective fields. They are also equally requested to cling to ethics and noble values to ascertain highly suitable scientific environment.
